LO DESEMBRE CONGELAT: Cold December Flies Away
Catalan
El desembre congelat
Confós es retira.
Abril, de flors coronat,
Tot el món admira.
Quan en un jardí d'amor
Neix una divina flor:
D'una ro ro ro,
D'una sa sa sa,
D'una ro, d'una sa,
D'una rosa bella
Fecunda i poncella.

El primer pare causà
La nit tenebrosa
Que a tot el món ofuscà
La vista penosa;
Quan en una mitja nit,
Brilla el sol que n'és eixit
D'una bella aurora
Que el cel enamora.

Arribaren els tres Reis
Amb gran alegria,
Adorant el Rei del cel
En una establia,
Oferint-li tres presents,
Que són: or, mirra i encens,
A la Mare pia,
La Verge Maria.

Amb contentament i amor
Celebrem el dia
En el què el diví Senyor
Neix amb alegria.
Si no tenim més tresor,
Oferim-li el nostre cor,
Que és la gran finesa
De nostra pobresa.
Spanish

D'una bella aurora
Que el cel enamora.

El mes de maig ha florit,
Sense ser encara,
Un lliri blanc y polit
De fragancia rara,
Que per tot el mon se sent,
De llevant fins a ponent,
Tota sa sa sa
Tota dul dul dul,
Tota sa, tota dul,
Tota sa dulcura
I olor, amb ventura.
English
Cold December's winds were stilled
In the month of snowing.
As the world fell dark one night,
Springtime's Hope was growing;
Then one rose-tree blossomed new,
One sweet Flower on it grew.
On the tree once bare,
Grew the Rose so fair,
Ah, the Rose, ah, the Rose,
Ah the Rose tree blooming,
Sweet the air perfuming.

When the darkness fell that night,
Bringing sweet reposing,
All the land was hid from sight,
Sleep our eyes was closing.
Suddenly, there came a gleam
From the sky, the wondrous beam
Of a heav'nly star,
Giving light afar;
Ah, the star, ah, the star,
Ah, the star-beam glowing,
Brightness ever growing.

Now the month of May was here,
Filled with God's own radiance;
Now the purest Lily bloomed,
Flow'r of sweeted fragrance.
To the people far and near
Came a breath of heav'nly cheer;
O, the incense rare
Of the Lily there!
Ah, the scent, ah, the scent
Of the Lily blooming,
All the air perfuming!

Another English Translation
Cold December flies away at the rose-red splendor.
April's crowning glory breaks while the whole world wonders
At the holy unseen power of the tree which bears the flow'r.
On the blessed tree blooms the reddest flower.
On the tree blooms the flower born in loves own garden,
Full and strong in glory.

In the hopeless time of sin shadows deep had fallen.
All the world lay under death. Eyes were closed in sleeping.
But, when all seemed lost in night, came the sun whose golden light
Brings unending joy, brings the endless joy,
Of our hope, highest hope, of our hope's bright dawning,
Son belov'd of heaven.

Comments:
Err, you don't have a Spanish translation here! They're both Catalan. To my knowledge, this is one Catalan song with no translation to Spanish. The syllables won't fit the melody. "Fum Fum Fum" does have a Spanish translation though.

El Diciembre Congelado
Confundido, se retira.
Abril de flores coronadas,
todo el mundo admira.
Quando en un jardín de amor
nace una flor divina...

It doesn't work, and I never heard it sung in Spanish. And, I think the midi file that's playing is Little Drummer Boy! :)

Yep, both Catalan, niether is Spanish. I love this song btw!

Believe it or not, the 1989 "United Methodist Hymnal" has a Spanish version (not sure how good a *translation* it is), which begins "En el frío invernal".
